All you need to know about children's ski lessons in La Plagne
Ski school & keeping your kids entertained for the week
Taking the kids skiing in La Plagne this winter? A ski holiday with little ones can be a big adventure. After booking the holiday and packing up all the gear you still need to figure out ski lessons for the kids and how to keep them happy the entire week!
Fret not, we’ve got the low down on children’s ski lessons in La Plagne - and everything else you need to know to ensure the kids have a great holiday, and thus, you have a great holiday too.
Ski Schools
La Plagne has a great choice of Ski Schools, most of whom offer children's lessons and there are a handful of Private Ski Instructors who can also take small groups of children or individuals.
Meeting Points
Ski school meeting points tend to be at the bottom of the ski lifts in each of the different sectors of La Plagne and some Ski Schools or Private Instructors can meet you at a location of your choice, you just need to ask if they offer this service.
Bringing the babies along?
Don’t be intimidated if you’re on holiday with very wee ones, free buses around La Plagne are child-friendly and allow easy access around resort. Babies and buggies can go up the bubbles and cable cars but keep in mind the pressure change with the higher altitude - you may want to seek advice from your family doctor first. There are great walks around all of the La Plagne villages that are accessible with a pram as well.
Lift Passes for Little Ones
Children under 5 ski for free although you will need proof of age when buying your passes, or when you collect them in resort.
Where to eat with the kids?
Le Grizzli is a Savoyard favourite with a cozy atmosphere that the kids will enjoy as well. Or if the kids are craving pizza, Le Ti & Yu has excellent pizzas to eat in or take out. If you’re in Belle-Plagne, head to L’Alpage just off the piste for great service. With items such as fondue, lasagna, and crepes on the menu you’re sure to find something for both you and the little ones to enjoy.
What else can the kids get up to?
There is no need to worry about what to get up to after ski lessons, as La Plagne has a number of activities to keep your little ones entertained all day long. Head out sledging on the Colorado or for a sleigh ride with husky dogs! If the kids want to swim there are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools in Plagne Bellecotte as well as bowling in Belle Plagne.
Weekly Activities: When you arrive in your resort ask your reps, check the events calendar or head down to the tourist office to find out what’s on during your week in La Plagne. With different activities/entertainment each week it’s good to get your finger on the pulse so as not to miss out. From Elf shows and Santa’s parade during Christmas, to an on-snow music concert for New Year to torchlight descents throughout the season, there’s often something special going on in resort.
We’ll see you out there on the slopes!
Thanks very much to the team at New Generation La Plagne for this article.
New Generation La Plagne Info
Children’s group ski lessons with New Generation run Monday-Friday (with an optional Sunday add-on) from 9am until 1:30pm for ages 5-13. Our kids group lessons in La Plagne offer a very different experience to any thing else available. As they are 4.5 hours long, this gives time to consolidate skills as well as explore the whole mountain. This also includes a break in the middle of the lesson in one of mountain cafes, adding another experience for the kids, where they can socialise with their group mates and grab a quick hot chocolate. Often the kids really enjoy this part as well! Group lessons can also give a little competitive edge which is healthy when managed properly. If you’re looking for even more tuition and fun, there is also an option to extend the lesson to two full days on Tuesday and Thursday.
Private kids lessons give that one on one experience, where they get 100% of the instructors attention. The instructor can tailor the lesson exactly to the need to your child, or children. For children age 4-5 we have shorter group lessons that run for two hours from 11.30 - 1.30. They get a later start for a slower morning and finish the same time as their brothers and sisters!
Where can you meet us?
The meeting point for our La Plagne Ski School is in La Plagne 1800 in front of the Melezes Chairlift just across from the car park. Our instructors are very flexible though, so please get in touch to discuss options if you’re staying in another level of La Plagne. For private lessons we are happy to meet anywhere in La Plagne. We just need to know at the time of booking to allow us plenty of time to meet you.
