January events in La Plagne

This is the month the locals get their town (and slopes) back, for a little while anyway. Olympic surprise at La Plagne’s Born to Be Show 2018

February events in La Plagne

February is school holidays time and the resort is full of families enjoying their Spring half-term break. There will be lots of activities and events put on by the ski companies and the tourist office, so be sure to keep an eye on our events calendar. It's also time for the Born to be Show - a 'must go' event if you are in resort.

Born To Be Show
Along with the Super Slalom, the Born To Be Show is probably the biggest annual event in La Plagne’s calendar – a celebration of the resort’s Club des Sports and its athletes (many of whom have medalled at Olympic and world-class level). The show tends to feature ski and snowboard demonstrations by the area’s up-and-coming young sports stars as well as some of its more established competitors. There is also a prize draw to win a car, as well as the obligatory fireworks show to close-off the evening. Dates and details.

Rando Challenge – Les Diables Bleus and Triface
The final two events in La Plagne’s Rando Challenge take place this month and should make for a thrilling conclusion to this four-stage event which started back in January in Champagny-en-Vanoise.

The Triface has competition and leisure versions, and is made up of a sequence of three circuits that correspond to the ascent of three peaks around Plagne Centre: Grande Rochette, Verdons and Bécoin.

Les Diables Bleus features another uphill battle on two courses rising either 450m or 1,000m up the mountain. This is no ordinary event as, after the gruelling climb, the competitors will also race down a challenging off-piste itinerary to the finishing line.

The overall winner of the four challenges will be crowned later at a prize-giving normally held in Plagne Centre, marking the conclusion of one of the toughest ski touring events in the world. Dates and details.

December events in La Plagne

December is always a busy month, the Christmas and New Year brings a flurry of social and sporting events, so take a look at our events calendar for more details.

Christmas
The festive season in the snowy Alps is always magical and every year there is some sort of celebration in resort to mark the occasion. Christmas in La Plagne officially starts at the beginning of December when the Christmas lights are switched on. The night is marked with vin chaud, hot chocolate and music. From then on you can enjoy Christmas concerts, festive markets and live music throughout town as the resort gears up for Christmas and New Year.

New Year's Eve
Come midnight the hoards of merry revellers head the centre of town for the big countdown – not an official event as such, more of a long-held tradition. On the stroke of midnight you are advised to duck as champagne corks and fireworks are unleashed in celebration! Likewise, planning ahead is advised if you have your heart set on ringing in the New Year in a particular bar or club – some of them are ticket-only, so enquire in advance to avoid disappointment!
